Here are the details of triathlon clubs in Manchester, Knutsford and Cheshire that you may be interested in joining.
Knutsford Tri Club
Triathlon in Knutsford gathered arms and legs in 2009 as a group of friends badgered one another into signing up for what was only the second year of the Tatton Park Triathlon. The event was a fantastic success, with no fewer than 4 of the group finishing in the top 20, and everyone smashing their personal bests and predicted times.
KTC Cyclists were about to depart from Knutsford to Abersoch after the event, and over a few celebratory drinks in a local eatery, it was agreed by one and all that instead of being the one off event that was planned, this should be the beginning of triathlon for everyone.
From there, over a curry, Knutsford Tri Club was formed, and its first official session was a swimming class on the 10/02/2010 at Knutsford Leisure Centre. The club already boasts over 20 members and is developing on a weekly basis.
Manchester Triathlon Club
Manchester Triathlon Club was awarded the 2008 British Triathlon Club of the Year award and prides itself on catering for all abilities from complete beginner through to seasoned elite. We are a disability inclusive club and benefit from affiliation to Triathlon England, British Cycling and UK Athletics. This especially suits many of our members who prefer to concentrate on just one or two disciplines. Whether you are an elite or a newcomer to triathlon, you will find we have plenty to offer:
- Quality training sessions for swimming, running and cycling
- Highly successful training weekends
- Local Club Grand Prix including duathlons and aquathlons
- Participation in the national team relays
- New members days
Click Man Tri Club for more info.
The HubNuts are a group of 20 or so like minded MAMILs (middle age men in lycra) living around South Manchester and Cheshire. They got into cycling 8 years ago and are now trying triathlons and other stuff.
The club have done a few 5 day charity rides in Spain and Israel and a few have now signed up for marathons and Olympic Tris.
A few mottos but on top of the list is, 'Life, a team sport'- it's all about sharing it with friends.

Wakefield Triathlon Club
Wakefield Triathlon Club is a club striving to encourage as many people as possible, particularly novices, to take up the sport of triathlon. We pride ourselves on welcoming newcomers to the sport regardless of their sporting credentials or the level of achievement to which they aspire.
We see triathlon as three sports in one allowing individuals to take part in varied training routines, reducing the probability of injury and stimulating ongoing interest in the sport.
As well as regular training sessions and competitive events (enjoyable for the slower, less athletic as well as the finely honed elite) , the club has a strong social side with regular social events organised to make sure there’s plenty of time to get to know your fellow club members a bit better.
Our open water swim sessions held on Saturday and Sunday mornings during the warmer months are very popular. New members are welcome to these sessions and day memberships are available for those wishing to dip their toes in.
