Roberts and Foley put in Peak Performance!

As the mists lifted to reveal a beautiful sunny day in Macclesfield, Manchester Triathlon Club member Mark Roberts won the annual Macclesfield Triathlon in a time of 1hr 11m 35sec. First lady home was Lisa Foley who set a new ladies' course record in a time of 1hr 26min 27sec - add to this success, the fact that Lisa is a novice to triathlon and her achievements become all the more remarkable!

The winning club was Manchester Triathlon Club - comprised of team members Mark Roberts, Mark Abbott and Adam Zavalis.

Over a third of the competitors were novices. The course started with a 400m swim in an indoor pool. The cycle then ventured out into the glorious Peak District with fantastic views over rugged landscapes and across the Cheshire Plains to the Jodrell Bank Observatory (for those who had the time to look!). Finally, the run was two laps around local roads finishing with a sprint across part of a cross country course to the finish line.

The event benefitted from electronic chip timing, producing results so quickly that the prize giving happened so promptly it caught a few people out, including winner Lisa Foley (still in the changing rooms at this point!).

All competitors received a goody bag, and winners received various prizes from sponsors including Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative, Zoggs, TriCentral, Sweatshop, Nokia, For Goodness Shakes!, Pure Blue, Sports Tours International, and Jointace.
